Disappointed many candidates regarding GATE 2014 results


                   The recently declared results for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2014 have disappointed many candidates as only 16.84 percent of the total appeared candidates have successfully cleared the examination.Candidates meeting the qualifying marks criteria set by the GATE 2014 Committee will receive their score cards and results through mail.

        A total of 10,33,625 candidates had registered for the GATE 2014 examination and 8,89,156 candidates attempted the exam, 85 percent of the registered female candidates and 86 per cent of the registered male candidates. The exams were held over three weekends between February 2, 2014 and March 2, 2014 with a total of 9 exam sessions across 660 exam centers.

           From the 1, 49,694 candidates qualifying the exam, 85,063 are from General category, 42,287 are from OBC (NCL), 17,085 from SC, 4,224 from ST and 1,035 Persons with Disability. Only 31, 431 female candidates (from all categories) have qualified.

           The GATE 2014 exam consists of a single paper with 65 questions for a total of 100 marks.
 A total of 22 optional subjects were offered under GATE 2014, and the most popular papers were:

           Finally the candidates qualified in gate 2014 is 16.84 percent
